It started with a question: "Why can't Addis Ababa have world-class pizza?" Dawit Tesfaye had just returned from three years training in Naples, carrying recipes, techniques, and an obsession with the perfect crust.
In 2021, with a single stone oven, a rented kitchen, and a WhatsApp group of 40 loyal friends, Effoi Pizza was born. The name β a nod to the Amharic spirit of doing things with full heart β spread faster than the smoke from that first oven.
Within six months, the waiting list was longer than the menu. Within a year, Effoi had become the most talked-about food destination in the city. Not because of marketing. Because of the pizza.
